Zachary Charles Heller

Zachary Charles Heller, age 74, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away on April 25, 2025, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Zack was born on July 23, 1950, in Waco, Texas, to Robert Edwin Heller and Dorothy (Haynes) Heller. He graduated from North High School in East Lake, Ohio, in 1968. On August 29, 1971, he married Linda Kay Frost at Moriah Church, north of Carthage, Missouri.

Throughout his life, Zack was a dedicated worker and a man of many talents. He worked as a forklift driver at Thorco and in the sample shop at O’Sullivan Industries. He also served as a skilled mechanic at Gilkey’s Automotive, Ihm’s Chrysler, and the Auto Clinic in Lamar. Zack had a lifelong passion for cars, trains, and computers, and loved spending time immersed in these interests.

Zack proudly served in the United States Air Force from December 1969 to December 1973, stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri. He completed his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, where he also played trumpet in the Drum and Bugle Corps.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda; one daughter, Carrie Allen and her husband James of Portland, Oregon; three cherished grandchildren, Abigail Allen, Avery Baranet, and Kira Baranet; and one brother, Dean Heller of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Daniel Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on the day of the service at the funeral home.
