Charles Victor “Vic” Ireland, age 89, of Lamar passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Truman Healthcare Center, where he had been a resident for two weeks.      Vic was born October 29, 1924, at Osceola, Missouri to Newel and Maude (Butcher) Ireland.  He attended Jerico Springs schools and fostered his natural talent as a mechanic.  In addition to working as a mechanic for Freightliner in Kansas City, Missouri, he had owned and operated a filling station where he also did engine repair for many years.  He was an a member of Masonic Lodge 659 North Kansas City, enjoyed square dancing and was an active member of Heart of America Bluegrass & Old Time Music Club, and a member of Iantha United Methodist Church.      On March 20, 1946, at Girard, Kansas, he married Nadine S. Workman and they had made their home in Kansas City, Missouri for many years, moving to Lamar in 2009.  Vic and Nadine had celebrated 63 years together before her death December 14, 2010.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jackie Dean Ireland; brothers-in-law, Leonard Workman, Jewell “Cotton” Workman, Don Workman, and Clifford Workman; sisters-in-law, Elsie Clark, Eunice LeVaugh, Ellen Ambler, and Waneta Workman.      Survivors include two grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Ireland, Clinton, Missouri and Jennifer Ireland; five great-grandchildren, Chase, Krystal, Chastine, Shaylene, and Cheyanne; brothers-in-law, Ernie Workman, Lamar, and Wayne (Donna) Workman, Liberal; a sister-in-law, Pauline Smith, Rancho Mirage, California; many nephews and nieces; and a large extended family.      A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Iantha Cemetery with Rev. Roger McKee officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home.      Memorial contributions are suggested to Iantha Methodist Church or American Cancer Society in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
