Verna J. Werts

Verna Jean “Jeanie” Werts, 92, a devout Christian, passed away in her home in Granger, Indiana, on January 11, 2019. She was born in Lander, Wyoming, on December 13, 1926. She was the daughter of Tom and Georgia Hulett. Jeanie lived most of her life in Dubois, Wyoming, and San Diego, California, where she raised her family. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Albert Claude Werts of Lamar, Missouri, and her youngest son, Rex. She is survived by one son, Thomas (Sheri) and five grandchildren: Jon (Janice) Werts, Corinna (Joseph) Scafidi, Rex Werts, Jr., Michael Werts, and Michelle Werts along with five great grandchildren. Jeanie led a full and productive life. She was very active in the Wyoming Historical Society, as well as the Senior Center and the Episcopal church in Dubois, Wyoming. She was a very accomplished seamstress and regularly created and donated prayer shawls to local groups. She loved Boston Terriers and owned many throughout her life. Her hobbies included growing flowers and bird watching. Her funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial at the Howell Cemetery.
