Steven Standley

Steven Charles Standley, age 62, of Lamar, Missouri passed away August 27, 2021, at 2:22 p.m.         Steven was born October 25, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles Kinder Standley and Carol Sue (Orrell) Standley. Steven graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1977. Steven was an all-around athlete, whether it be playing running back on the football team, running track, or holding the record in pole vaulting. He attended Pittsburg State University on a football scholarship and ran for the track team while he was at the university. On July 3, 1982, Steven married Christine Joanne Matthews in Lamar, Missouri. Steven was self-employed and started his career in construction. While continuing construction he also started numerous companies supporting environmental endeavors thru his milling and recycling work. Steven loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, bass fishing, water skiing and was a boating and car enthusiasts. He enjoyed traveling to the beach and staying close to home with family and friends around the backyard pool. He loved animals, especially his beloved dogs, whom you would often see Steve walking or taking for a ride in the golf cart. When his daughter was younger, you would always find him on the softball field coaching and watching her play. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Steven would do anything for anybody, and he had an amazing sense of humor and love for all those who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Christine Standley, his daughter, Stefanie Standley, his parents, Charles and Carol Standley, his brother, Shawn (Jolene) Standley, his sister, Suzanne (David) Cato, and nieces, Lakin Standley, Kinder Standley, Shelby (Luke) Davey and nephew, Drew (fiancé Kayla) Cato.Steven was preceded in death by a sister, Penny Lee Standley. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the funeral home.Contributions are suggested and made payable to Charlie 22 Outdoors in care of Daniel Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared at www.dfhlamar.com
