Steven R. Smith

Steven Ray Smith, age 68 of Sheldon, Missouri, died Saturday morning, January 6, 2018 at Truman Healthcare Center. He was born November 18, 1949 in Joplin, Missouri to Charles and Pauline Smith.    On May 12, 1996 he married Shelly Ryder in Springfield, Missouri. He was a heavy machinery operator, a carpenter, and a Jack-of-all-trades.      Steve leaves behind his wife Shelly; one son Billy Smith, of Colorado; two daughters, Kristen Gardner (Jet Oberlin), Sheldon, Missouri and Amanda Smith, Colorado; brothers, John (Staci) Smith, Carl Junction, Missouri, Jim Smith, Joplin, Missouri and Gary Smith, Sheldon, Missouri; a step brother, Carl Morris, Amsterdam, Missouri; sisters, Connie (Gary) Smith, Longview, Texas and Shelly (Dan) Sims, Gallatin, Missouri; step parents, Gerald and Pat Morris, Carl Junction, Missouri; three adopted grandchildren, Brayden, Izzabell, and Cambreigh; and many nieces and nephews.      Preceding him in death were his parents and six brothers.      Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Tolson Cemetery.      Contributions are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
