Ruth Unruh

Ruth Unruh, age 87, of rural Lamar, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Truman Healthcare Center where she had been a resident for the last 14 months.      Ruth was born June 25, 1927 at Ringwood, Oklahoma, one of the five children and only daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Thomas) Unruh.  She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Melvin, Milton, and Alvin Unruh; and a great-nephew, Christopher Unruh.      A compassionate and natural care-giver, Ruth devoted her life to her Lord and her energy to nursing.  She worked at Barton County Memorial Hospital for 60 years.  Ruth especially enjoyed taking care of babies and the company of her favorite dog, Cocoa.      Survivors include a brother, John (Lois) Unruh, Anchorage, Alaska; niece, Margie (Darius) Swearingen of Jasper, Missouri and two nephews, Norman (Marilyn) Unruh, Lamar and Dave (Carrie) Unruh, Anchorage, Alaska; many great-nephews and great-nieces.      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
