Roy Lee Boone

Roy Lee Boone, age 84, of Lamar, passed away Friday, September 19, 2008, at Barton County Memorial Hospital.        Roy was born July 26, 1924, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the oldest of the three children of Henry and Georgia (Middleton) Boone.  As a young man, Roy delivered telegrams and had an ice cream route.  He later worked in the train yards in Independence, Kansas.  Roy moved to Lamar in 1976 to be near family and in his later years, enjoyed repairing clocks.  Roy was a member of the Lamar Jehovah’s Witnesses.        Survivors include a niece, Nancy & husband Gary Salisbury, Lamar; and three nephews and their wives, Danny & Debbie Davis, Joplin, Missouri, Steven & Nancy Davis, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ralph & Sharon Davis, Lamar; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.  He was preceded in death by a brother, John W. Boone and a sister, Eugenia May Davis.        A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21st at the Lamar Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.        Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
