Robert Edwin Haile, age 84, of rural Lamar, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.        Robert was born November 12, 1925, in Barton County, the oldest of the four children of Cleo and Ruth (Winter) Haile.  After graduating from Lamar High School, Robert entered the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during World War II. On a trip to Europe with family in 2001, Robert had the pleasure of revisiting many of sites in which he had served as a soldier.         In addition to farming and raising cattle, Robert had worked at Lawn Boy, Barton County Electric, and Wilhelm Asphalt for many years.  He was a member of First Christian Church of Lamar and V.F.W. Post #3691.  Robert enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and water skiing, especially when sharing these activities with his family.        Robert was married to Doralee (Paine) Haile for many years and together they have four children.  On August 15, 1975, at Miami, Oklahoma, Robert married Ruby (Freeman) Kelley, and she survives, of the home.  Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert “Bobby” & Yvonne Haile, Lamar; three daughters, Ruth & husband Joe Barry, Omaha, Nebraska, Marilyn Hurst, and LuAnn & husband Brent Lock, all of Lamar; two step-daughters, Gayla Charlton, Liberal, Missouri, and Marilyn Kay Kelley, Neosho, Missouri; a brother, Doug & wife Elaine Haile, Lamar; a sister, Dorothy & husband, Max Todd, Lamar; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roland Haile; and a son-in-law, Ed Hurst.        Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Burial will be in Lake Cemetery with military honors conducted by Lamar V.F.W. Post 3691.        Memorial contributions are suggested to Lamar V.F.W. Post 3691 in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
