Rick A. Johnson, age 62, of Lamar, passed away early Saturday morning, January 3, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family.      Rick was born April 19, 1952, at Sidney, Montana, to George Lewis and Roberta Mae (Miller) Johnson.  After graduating from Lamar High School in 1970, he attended MSSU where he also played football for the Lions.  He entered the U.S. Army in 1972, serving as an MP securing nuclear missile sites while stationed in Germany.  Returning home in 1975, Rick worked various jobs while returning to classes and graduating from MSSU with an AS in Accounting & BS in Criminal Justice.  In 1985, he took over the consulting company, REC Services, which he managed until ill health forced him to retire in 2013.  Rick had also owned and operated Lamar Family Billiards many years, positively impacting the lives of countless young people.  Rick was a former member of Lamar Elks Lodge and American Legion.  He was a talented woodworker and a competitive player of cards, games, and puzzles.  Above all, Rick loved the fellowship of family and many good friends.      On April 24, 1999, at Lamar, Rick married Rhonda (Shaw) Taylor and she survives, of the home.  Also surviving are his mother, Roberta Braxdale, Lamar; a son, Raeth (Crystal) Johnson, Stella, Missouri; a daughter, Ryan (Todd) Lacen, Columbus, Kansas; a step-son, Shane (Christina) Taylor, Kansas City, Missouri; a step-daughter, Chelsey Taylor, Springfield, Missouri; three sisters, Janet Hughes, Lakewood, Colorado, Regina Johnson, Olathe, Kansas, and Pamela (Dale) Harrington, Joplin, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Stephen Shaw, Park City, Utah and Douglas Shaw, Lockwood, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Janeth Johnson, Monett, Missouri and Angela (Larry) Kurtz, Springfield; six grandchildren, Ashlee Lacen, Mindy Johnson, Dixee Lacen, Trenton Lacen, Isla Taylor, and Trevor Lacen; and a large extended family.      Rick was preceded in death by his father, George Lewis Johnson; his step-father, Grover Braxdale; and his brother, Monte Johnson.      A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6th at Daniel Funeral Home with full military honors conducted.  The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the service.      Memorial contributions are suggested to ACS Hope Lodge/Kansas City, in care of the funeral home.
