Pat Williamson

Patricia Anne “Pat” Williamson, age 88, of Lamar, passed away early Sunday morning, July 5, 2015 at the home of her daughter, Maria O’Sullivan.      Pat was born March 2, 1927, at Kansas City, Missouri to James and Anna Marie (Wagner) Murty.  After high school graduation, Pat attended U.M.K.C. for two years and was active in a college sorority.   On February 4, 1950, she married Paul Williamson and they made their home in Kansas City until moving to Lamar in 1966 to own and operate Chiles-Williamson Funeral Home.  After selling the funeral home in 1977, Pat worked in the law office of Richard Scott before beginning a 20 years career in the purchasing department of O’Sullivan Industries.  Retiring in 1998, Pat had more time to devote to her family, the church and her many interests.  She was a member of PCCW (Parish Council of Catholic Women) and served as St. Mary’s Parish Council treasurer for more than 20 years.  Enjoying competition, Pat bowled on three leagues, held the title of Ladies Club Champion Golfer at Lamar Country Club for five years, and was an avid card player.  She loved to travel and the highlights of her four trips to Europe included playing golf at St. Andrews and receiving a blessing from St. Pope John Paul II.  She enjoyed the fellowship of the O’Sullivan Retired Employees group and the friendship of the many who referred to her by her “Old Bat” nickname.      Survivors include a son, Paul J. Williamson, Austin, Texas; daughters, Patricia Wiley, Cynthiana, Kentucky, Maria (Tom) O’Sullivan, Lamar; “adopted daughter”, Jill Purinton, Lamar; eight grandchildren, Brian (Kori) O’Sullivan, Adam (Jessica) O’Sullivan, Tommy O’Sullivan, Colin (Ashley) O’Sullivan, Maria (Chuck) Gambrell, Laura Wiley (Scott Stephens), Tyrell Williamson, and Paige Williamson; and eight great-grandchildren, Cody, Chelsey, Sloane, Graham, and Norah O’Sullivan, Grant and Jack Gambrell, and Shylee Carr.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Paul.      A Rosary service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9th at Daniel Funeral Home with visitation immediately following.      Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 10th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lamar.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or L.I.F.E. Foundation.
