Mary J. Sweeney

Mary Sweeney, age 81, of rural Lamar, died peacefully at her home, Monday, April 26, 2010.  She was born October 18, 1928 at Dudenville to Charles Harrison and Grace Edith (Casteel) Tubaugh Sr.  She graduated from Golden City High School.  On March 22, 1958, she married Bruce Everett Sweeney, at Carthage, MO.  Together, they had three children.   Mary was a homemaker, and avid gardener and quilter, and helped her husband farm.  She was a member of the Golden City United Methodist Church, and a member of the Stone Club.   Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years; two sons, Danny & Rhonda Sweeney of Lamar, and Doug of Lamar; one daughter, Diane & Neil Rosenthal, of Golden City; one brother, Lloyd Tubaugh of Maple Grove, MO; one sister Irene Isenmann of Jasper, MO; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Derek, Krista, & Dylan Sweeney, Lamar, Melinda Rice, Lamar, Summer Sweeney, Raytown, MO, Avery, Zoe, and Jason Rosenthal, Golden City; and one great-grandchild, Cesli Rice, Lamar. She also had numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.   Graveside services for Mary will be 10:00 am, Thursday April 29, 2010 at Dudenville Cemetery with Minister Mike Gage officiating.
