Marven Rodgers      Marven Earl Rodgers, age 75, of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at his home.      Marven was born August 5, 1932, in Windsor, Colorado, to Walter and Pearl (Grubb) Rodgers.  He graduated from Lamar High School in 1950 and attended college in Colorado before entering the U.S. Army in 1953.  He served in the American Occupational Force in Augsburg, Germany, where he met the love of his life, Erika Schaffer, on Thanksgiving Day in 1954.  They were married November 29, 1956 in Harper, Kansas and celebrated 36 years together before her death December 4, 1992.  Marven was also preceded in death by a son, Peter Rodgers; and two sisters, Beulah Weiss and Lenna Edwards.        Marven had worked as a printer, an upholsterer, and for many years, as a sheet metal worker in the aircraft industry in San Diego, California.  He moved back to Lamar in 1995 from Mesa, Arizona and was an active member of First Christian Church.  Marven had a deep love for God and his family, and will be remembered for his generosity and kindness to his many neighbors and friends.        Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Lisa Rodgers, Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Stephanie Rodgers, Olean, New York; four brothers, Wayne & his wife, Audrey Rodgers, Houston, Missouri, Lowell Rodgers, Westminster, Colorado, Gene & his wife, Ruth Rodgers, Moberly, Missouri, and Vernon & his wife, Jodie Rodgers, Prescott Valley, Arizona; six grandchildren, Traci Bassett, Garron Rodgers, Bryeson Rodgers, Erika Rodgers, Nicholaus Rothert, and Andrew Rodgers; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Bassett.             A memorial service to celebrate Marven’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the First Christian Church of Lamar. Arrangements under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.
