Lyman W. "Dub" Kentner

Lyman Wakefield "Dub" Kentner, age 89, of Lamar, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Barton County Memorial Hospital.     Dub was born January 14, 1924 at Golden City, MO to Lyman Wakefield Kentner Sr. and Mary Evelyn (Hastings) Kentner. He graduated Golden City High School and then served his country in the United States Army.  On January 17, 1955, he married Kathryn Roberta Rose at Lamar and together they raised two children.  Dub worked many years as a dozer operator for Murray Construction in Carthage, Missouri.  He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.    Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Kathryn; one son, Don and Shelley Kentner, of Liberal, Missouri; one daughter, Deborah Kentner, of Lamar; one grandson, Kyle Wakefield Kentner of Liberal; one brother, Gary Kentner of Seattle, Washington; four sisters, Erma McGuire of Golden City, Missouri; Martha Maxwell of Carthage, Missouri, Joann Tierny of Gladstone, Missouri and Mary Lollar of Durant, Oklahoma.     Dub was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J.C. Kentner, and one sister, Phyllis McGuire.    Funeral service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
