Lorraine Victoria (Lucietta) Long, 87, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 20, 2008, at Spring River Christian Nursing Home in Joplin, Missouri.        Lorraine was born April 1, 1921, in Barton County, Missouri to Pete and Minnie (Beccatti) Lucietta.  On June 7, 1941, she married Marvin A. Long, and they made their home in Irwin, Missouri until moving to Lamar in 1998.  They had celebrated 63 years of marriage before Marvin preceded her in death November 29, 2004.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Margaret Gawthrop, Irene Rose, Violet Caffey, and Betty Jean Geeslin.        She leaves to honor her memory her four children and their spouses, Robert & Carol Long, Webb City, Richard & Joy Long, Lee’s Summit, Ronald & Barbara Long, Carthage, Sherrie and Doug Fry, Wheatland; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Lucietta, Lamar; a sister, Lucille Brummett, Mindenmines; a brother-in-law, Bill Geeslin, Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.        Lorraine was a farmer’s wife and enjoyed cooking and gardening.  She cared deeply for her family and friends and was a member of Verdella Freewill Baptist Church.  She had been a member of the Bryan Club for more than 50 years.        Cooking was her art and profession.  Lorraine was the baker at Liberal Grade School and had served over 20 years when she retired in 1998.  She was known for very large cinnamon rolls, cakes, pies, cookies, and candies.  She shared love for family and friends through food.  She received many blue ribbons and grand champion awards at the Lamar Fair over the years.        Lorraine loved people, and throughout the years of meeting all the children passing through the Liberal Schools, her friendship circle was large.  She possessed a sparkling personality and lived the family values she held dear.        The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses, and all the staff at Spring River Christian Nursing Home, Joplin, for all their wonderful care.        Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22nd at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lamar.
