Leonard Lewis "Joe" Marti, age 85, of Lamar, peacefully passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at Via Christi Village with loved ones by his side.      Joe was born September 11, 1930, in Barton County, Missouri, the fifth of the eight children of Fred and Anna (Kaufman) Marti.  In addition to being a life-long farmer, Joe had also worked for a few years at Lawn-Boy in Lamar.  On July 30, 1955, Joe married Jewell Evelyn Thorburn and they made their home and raised their son, Jeffrey, on the farm.  A devoted husband and father, Joe was a spiritual leader, a quiet, patient teacher and role-model for many more than just his immediate family.  While no one could fill the void left when Jeff died as a teenager due to a heart condition, Joe continued to be an admired father figure and was loved deeply by a large extended family.      In addition to his son, Jeff, Joe was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alvin Marti and Ervin Marti; and two sisters, Ruth Schrock and Corrine Roth.      Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Evelyn Marti; a brother, Dale (Corrine) Marti, Lamar; a brother-in-law, Roy Roth, Eureka, Illinois; two sisters, Dorothy (Paul) Wagenbach, Burlington, Iowa and Allene (Jerry) Steffen, Goodfield, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Teresa Marti, Burlington, Iowa; and many nephews and nieces.  Other survivors Joe considered to be his family include Calvin and Jodi Luthi of Lamar and their children, Audrey (Aaron) Rokey, Morris, Minnesota, Jessica (Jesse) Braker, Liberal, Missouri, Jared, Ryan, Caleb, Nathan, Amber, Austin, Danielle, and Clint Luthi all of Lamar.      The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 18th at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.       A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 19th at Apostolic Christian Faith Church, 3101 North Joplin, Pittsburg, Kansas.  The graveside committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Barton County, Missouri.      Memorial contributions are suggested to Apostolic Christian Faith Church in Pittsburg or Hospice Compassus in care of the funeral home.
