Leila Ann Metcalf, age 67, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Mercy McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage.
Leila was born September 7, 1946, at Wright County, Missouri, to Edgar and Mildred (Perkins) Greenlee. She graduated from Jasper High School and, later spent many years working in the Jasper school system as well as serving on the Jasper School Board. She enjoyed athletic activities and was a dedicated Jasper Eagle fan. Many will remember Leila for her welcoming smile and helpful manner during the eight years she worked at Carthage Wal-Mart. Leila was an avid fisherman and an active member of First Baptist Church of Lamar.
On October 16, 1970 at Jasper, Leila married Leonard E. Metcalf and he survives, of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Della Hill & Virginia Chadbourne of Albert Lea, Minnesota; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny & Kyley Metcalf of Jasper; two brothers, Rick & Karen Greenlee and Randy & Marsha Greenlee; five sisters, Lillian Schubblehutt, Lois Jean & Dan Ulibarri, Fay Dozer, Kay Sisseck, and Louelle Greenlee; five grandchildren, Braden, Logan, Haley, Kierstin, and Xander. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Richard Greenlee, a sister, Lavetta Daigh, and a daughter, Deborah Metcalf.
A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Lamar First Baptist Church with Pastor Robb Hodson officiating. Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery east of Jasper.
