Lavernia Sue Clark

Lavernia Sue Clark 52, of Sheldon was received into the arms of her savior Jesus Christ on the afternoon of March 6, 2009. She was with her daughter and son in law at the time or her passing and she joins her beloved husband Roger Wilson Clark whom entered his home with Jesus on March 5, 2006. Sue was born to Audrey Marney Goodale and Lee Vernon Goodale on October 10, 1956 in Kansas City Missouri. Sue lived in various cities in Missouri her entire life, living briefly in Texas and in Idaho. Sue met the love of her life, Roger in 1982 and married him on July 4th of that year in Belton Mo. And they remained very happily married until Rogers passing in 2006.  They used to say that they taught each other what real love was.  And anyone who knew them, knew that that was not only true but amazing.  They lived for one another and their family.  Sue worked various jobs in her life time. Restaurants, nursing homes, cashiering.  She was not ashamed of the fact that she had what some people would consider “menial” jobs, because she was providing for her family.  Sue was a hard worker until the day she became ill in 1994.  She became disabled at the age of 36, and she fought for 15 years after that to stay with her friends and family. Anyone that knew Sue knew that she would say that she was going to be an “old bitty” and live to be 102, we all believed her because she was so stubborn and head strong.  So even though she was ill for over half her life, her death was a true shock. Sue is survived by her daughter StaySea Clark-Knopfel and her husband Jeffrey of Sheldon. Her best friend Aggie Robinson and her husband James of Sheldon.  Her sister Barbara Brown and her husband Kevin Bowers and children Addie and Mitchell of Garden City Missouri.  Her other best friend Marion Turner and her husband Jeff of Bettendorf Iowa. Her “other mother” Gertrude Clark of Watertown New York. Her “other daughter” Tabby Baker and her girls Frankie, Faith, Dessy, and Tori.  Her “adopted” son’s Herman Baker and his son Dustin, Travis Robinson and his wife Teri and their children Travis Jr and Abby.   She is also survived by five other sisters. Patsy, Charlotte, Virginia, Lula, and Vicki and all of their family’s.  And other extended family members that are to numerous to mention. Sue was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and one sister.   Sue was fiercely loyal, funny, kind and mostly loving.  People who were fortunate enough to be in her life knew exactly how she felt about them.  She never left anything undone or unsaid.  She believed that life was to short to be fake or unhappy.  She could be cantankerous, and never apologized for it.  She was always true to herself and her beliefs.  Sue had an infectious smile,  and an ability to make any situation in life seem just a little bit better. Sue was talented and loved working on plastic canvas.  She made things that were from her heart and her projects of love and affection are spread all over the place.  Family and friends have things that Sue has made them proudly on display. She worked countless hours on things for people to show her love for them.  Those things stand as a remembrance of Sue and what she wanted to remain after her passing.  Love and Smiles..  My Momma was the most amazing woman in the world.  She was strong and protecting, she was soft and loving. She made me better. She made all of us better people for having known her.  She was my best friend, the kind of mother that many don’t know exist. She was open minded, accepting and amazingly light hearted.  She loved with all she had and she never let people down.  She kept her word to people.  She kept secrets, but told no lies. She kept her head up and kept on going when she wanted to give up.  She was unselfish and would give you all she had, and she only expected love and respect in return.  She took care of everyone, even when her body wouldn’t let her anymore.  She was beautiful and she is not a person that will soon be forgotten.  Sue Clark was a genuine person.  She was not perfect and didn’t pretend to be.  But she was to me.  She was my Momma.  She is going to be missed by all that knew her and loved her.  I have heard it said that life isn’t measured by what you take with you but what you leave behind.  Well I know now that it is true, because you can’t look at your life and not see what Momma brought too it if you knew her.  With her being gone, the world seems a little dimmer. And still we will carry on.  To honor Momma and to remember her.  I know that she is safe and she is back with my dad and Jesus.  And we will remember forever the kind of woman that Sue Clark was and still remains.  For she is in all of us that she touched.  And we will keep your memory alive Momma.  Jeff and I love you so much, we miss you even more.  Momma, keep an eye out for us, and keep our places in heaven, when it is our time, please come and bring us home to be with you all. Until then, smile and dance and be happy. Because I know you are no longer in pain and your body is well. We love you, I love you.  And just like when dad passed, I promise to keep you alive in everything I do.  Just remember to look in on us from time to time to keep us in line, let us know you are still here. With all the love in our hearts.  StaySea and Jeff.   A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Sheldon Community Center. Contributions are suggested to the Lavernia Clark family in care of the Daniel Funeral Home.
