John Gerald Orahood, age 58, a lifetime resident of Lamar, Missouri, peacefully passed away on October 31, 2025, at his home.
John was born at Barton County Hospital, Lamar, Missouri on August 2, 1967, to Dan & Janice (Cornwell) Orahood.
He graduated from Lamar High School in 1985, where he enjoyed playing football with the nicknames of John Bomb and Muley.
John worked at Stephen Standley’s Warehouse, Sun Containers, O’Sullivan’s, National TV, and Washburn Farm and Home. He really enjoyed working in sales because of his involvement with the customers.
On September 10, 2011, John married Anita Jones at Lamar City Park. They built a beautiful life and welcomed a son, Bryan Thomas.
John was an avid Chief’s fan and enjoyed cheering for them when they were winning and yelling at the TV when they were losing. Another great joy was fishing with his son. He enjoyed getting together with the boys and watching the Chiefs. He also enjoyed bowling, playing golf and driving his four-wheeler or his pickup on the gravel roads to visit with friends.
John attend Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his mother, Janice Orahood; his wife Anita; a son, Bryan; brother, Kevin of Lamar; a stepson, Brandon Bartlett of Warsaw, Missouri; mother-in-law, Sheila Blanchard, father-in-law, Stanley Blanchard and an aunt, and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his father, Dan, and his grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lamar, MO.
