John DeBolt

John Clayton DeBolt, age 95, of Lamar, Missouri, died at his home, Friday, March 2, 2018.      John was born September 20, 1922 in Chanute, Kansas to Charles Clayton and Roberta Jeanette (Heminger) DeBolt.  He graduated high school and served his country in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946. On June 1, 1946 he married Myrdith Corene Sullivan in Norman, Oklahoma and together they raised four children.  After returning from the war, he continued his education, graduating from Kansas State College of Pittsburg with a Master of Science “Guidance Counseling” August 4th 1967, and Bachelor of Science in Commerce June 2, 1949. He taught in Weaubleau, Golden City, and Lockwood, before moving to Lamar in 1973, where he served as the School Administrator for 11 years until his retirement in 1984.  He was a member of Lamar First Baptist Church, Lamar Lions Club, Church Choir, Sunday School Teacher, and a lifetime Deacon.       Survivors include sons, Jeffrey Clayton DeBolt, Southaven, Mississippi and John Kristopher DeBolt and wife Vicki, North Richland Hills, Texas; daughters Linda Kay Ubrig and husband Karl, Dassel, Germany and Cynthia Corrine Shelton and husband Bennie, Forsyth, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Benjamin John (Becky) Shelton, Wesley David Shelton, Jonathan James DeBolt, William Clayton (Elizabeth) DeBolt, Cindy (Trey) Alberson, Aimee (Stefan) Schulz, Jonny (Shandella) Ubrig, Anna Ubrig, and Judy Schrump; 12 great-grandchildren Bailey, Bryce, Karis, Audrey, Joleen, Kenny, Ava, Blake, Amy, Nash, Jakob, and Benni; nephew, Jim (Pat) Blanton and niece Cathy Ann (John) Pfligenstafer.  He was preceded in death by his wife Corene in 2005; a brother, Charles Robert DeBolt and a sister, Marjorie Jean Blanton.      Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, March 9, 2018 at Lamar First Baptist Church with Pastor Robb Hodson officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.      The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.      Contributions are suggested to Lamar First Baptist Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
