Jim Marquis

James L. (Jim) Marquis, age 81, of Lamar, Missouri passed away peacefully on April 17, 2021, after a short illness.          Jim was born December 29, 1939 to Chris and Frances Marquis in Adair, Iowa.  Jim married Betty Lou Spangler on February 15, 1959 in Adair, Iowa. Later that year they moved to Costa Mesa, California. In 1967 they moved to Lamar, MO where Jim worked at Barton County Implement Company for 36 years.   Jim had a passion for farming and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and loved old classic cars.   Jim leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Betty Lou, three daughters; Sherri Johnston and husband Rick of Webb City, MO, Robin Dunaway and husband Alan of Carl Junction, MO, Shelley McKisick and husband Cliff of Orange Park, Florida, four grandchildren; Jaime Dunaway-Seale, Tori Dunaway, Keifer  McKisick and Seger McKisick, one brother; Jerri Marquis, four sisters; Jean Hiatt, Judy Lapp, Jane Ann Prichard and Joan Chavers.   Preceding James in death were his parents.   Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial at 1:00 p.m. at Carl Junction Cemetery in Carl Junction, MO.   The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the funeral home.     Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Daniel Funeral Home.   Condolences may be shared at www.dfhlamar.com
