James Henry Button, age 81, of Lamar,
passed away Saturday, November 22,
2008, at Truman Healthcare
Center.
Jim was born August 30, 1927, in Carthage,
Missouri, to George and Blanche (Coons)
Button. Except for the time he served in
the U.S. Army during World War II, Jim was a life-long area resident. He was a long-time Barton
County farmer and had also worked
as a truck driver. Jim enjoyed serving
his community as a storm spotter with the Barton County Alert Squad and had
been active in American Legion Post #209 for many years.
Survivors include a sister and
brother-in-law, Margaret & Hollis Hands of Amarillo, Texas; a niece Mary
& husband Sam Harrell of Claude, Texas;
two nephews, Dr. Martin Hands and Robert & wife Paula Hands, all of
Amarillo; twelve great-nieces and great nephews, Kaleigh, Holly, Lisa, Jacob,
Marti, Andrew, Thomas, Annie, Isaac and Josiah Hands and Helen & Faith
Harrell.
Military rites were conducted by V.F.W.
Post 3691 at 3:00 p.m. Monday,
November 24th, at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial was in I.O.O.F.
Cemetery in Golden
City.
