Jason Langford

Jason David Langford, age 36, of rural Lamar, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.        Jason was born August 23, 1977 at Bethany, Missouri, to David and Mirian (McMasters) Langford.  When Jason was five years old, his father died and he was blessed to grow up close to his extended McMasters family. He deeply appreciated the relationship and the love of his second father, Lynton Hickman.  In addition to his father, Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Junior “Mac” & Evelyn McMasters; an aunt, Levina McMasters; and an uncle, David McMasters.     Jason attended school in Stockton and El Dorado and had lived in Barton County for the past fourteen years.   He had worked as an electrician for Webb Electric in Lamar, Wallace Electric in Nevada, and as a lineman installing fiber optics throughout this area.  An avid outdoorsman, Jason enjoyed fishing, fast cars, and animals, especially his dogs.  He had a penchant for adventure and was fearless in the face of any challenge, a fact that was obvious to all who walked with him in his journey through brain cancer.  Jason’s legacy includes his zest for life, unquenchable sense of humor, and genuine love for family and friends.        Survivors include his parents, Mirian & Lynton Hickman; his sons, Calob Langford and Curtis Langford of Lamar; grandparents, Harold & Beverly Hickman, Morrisville, Missouri; aunts and uncles, Paul & Priscilla McMasters, Springfield, Leland & Beverly McMasters, Rogersville, Diann & Steve Huddleson, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dena McMasters, Columbia, Les McMasters and Mark McMasters, both of Stockton, Scott McMasters, Lamar, Charles & Leslie Hickman, Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Lullel & Lisa Hickman, Morrisville; many cousins and a large extended family.        A celebration of Jason’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until service time.        Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
