Jackie Soma

Jackie Soma, age 56, of Altamont, Kansas, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017, at her home. Jackie was born May 16, 1961, in Luverne, Minnesota, the youngest of the five children of Merrill and Beverly (Lindstrom) Soma. After moving with her family to Missouri, she graduated from Lamar High School in 1979. Jackie later married Dwight Gath, and together they had two sons, Matthew and Jesse. With a sharp mind and affinity for numbers, Jackie had worked as an accountant for several companies for many years. She was an avid reader and a natural champion at Nintendo. Jackie was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, Matt Gath, McCune, Kansas and Jesse (Rebecca) Gath, Livingston, Texas; four grandchildren, Ryan, Cody, Charli, and Brynli Gath; two brothers, Jim (Jenny) Soma, Lamar and Jeff Soma, Pasadena, Texas; two sisters, Jenice (Larry) Gaither and Jerri Soma, Lamar; many nephews and nieces; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Colee Grubb. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30th, at Daniel Funeral Home. Honoring Jackie’s wishes, she will later be cremated. Memorial contributions are suggested to Jackie’s family, in care of the funeral home.
