William Jackson “Jack” Thrasher, age 91, of Lamar, Missouri passed Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Truman Healthcare Center, after a battle with cancer.      Jack was born April 16, 1925 in Gravette, Arkansas, to Eddie Carl and Myra Gertrude (Jesse) Thrasher.  He served in the United States Army, during WWII.  Just five days after being discharged from the Army, he married Viola Higgins, September 15, 1945 in Girard, Kansas and together they had one daughter.  Viola passed on February 27, 2015, after nearly 70 years of marriage.      Jack had worked at Thorco for over 40 years and  as a Supervisor of the Jigs and Samples Department for many years.  He was a member of Lamar First Baptist Church. Jack loved woodworking, building things for family members.  He was known as a hard worker, and he and Viola loved to go shopping and going to Branson to watch many different shows over the years.  He was also a self-taught guitar player and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.      Survivors include one daughter, Linda and husband David Ewers, Lamar, Missouri; one brother, John Thrasher, California; one granddaughter, Amanda and husband Chris Burr, Irwin, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Hailey, and Desirae Burr; many nieces and nephews; Bill and Patricia Nixon, who he considered the son he never had; and a close special friend, Elaine Reynolds.       Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Viola; five brothers, Dave, Paul, Marion, Doug, and Frank Thrasher; and one sister, Anna Mae Rock.      Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home with Robb Hodson officiating.  There will be a private burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery.      The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until service time Thursday, at the funeral home.      Contributions are suggested to Barton County Senior Center or First Baptist Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
