J.D. Pahlow

John Digby “JD” Pahlow Jr., passed from this life on November 3rd, 2018. Military Honors will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 18th, 2018 at Daniel Funeral Home, with a time of rememberance and fellowship following until 3:00 pm. JD was born on November 7th, 1943 to John Digby Pahlow Sr. and Irene Elizabeth (Mallory) Pahlow in Carthage, Missouri. He was raised in Lamar, Missouri and graduated from Lamar High School in 1961. After graduation he attended Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri where he played football and was an Interstate Conference All-Star. JD graduated from Wentworth in 1963. JD then went on to attend Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. On March 23rd, 1964, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was awarded Outstanding Individual Recruit. He served as dental technician and field medic in the First Dental Company attached to the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. While serving in Vietnam from February 1967 to February 1968, JD was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. JD was honorably discharged on February 9th, 1968. JD worked for Reeve Dental Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 1968 to 1972 when he joined the family business of Pahlow and Pahlow Abstract and Title Firm as a third generation partner. After his Father’s death in 1978, JD took the reigns of the business while also being appointed the Lamar Branch Manager of Farm and Home Savings, Nevada, Missouri. JD was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lamar, Missouri and a former member of the Lamar United Methodist Church where he served two years as the Administrative Board Chairman. He was the past president of the Lamar Rotary Club, Lamar Community Betterment for two years, Barton County United Way for one year, Barton County Senior Citizen Center for two years, Lamar Country Club for 2 years. JD also served on the steering committee for the new Lamar High School, and the Barton County Health Board for eight years. He was the Committee Chairman for the Law Wing Memorial Fund which was added to the old Barton County Memorial Hospital. He served on the Board of Directors of Barton County Mutual Insurance Company and was Chairman of Christmas Lighting for 14 years. JD was most proud of serving the citizens of Barton County as the Public Administrator for 10 years. He was a Shriner, an avid pilot and enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, and golfing. JD leaves behind two sons; Brad McCully and wife Leslie of Booneville, Missouri; Tim Pahlow and wife Ashlee of Joplin, Missouri; four sisters, Marty (Pat) Beezley, Marilyn (Dick) Peterson all of Pittsburg, Kansas, Margee Pahlow, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Trisha (Tom) Stephenson of Augusta, Georgia, six grandchildren; Trenton, Megan, Jaden, Kyle, Jack and Adi; many loved nieces and nephews; and two former wives, Linda Pahlow and Marsha Steele-Hardin. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael Moran Pahlow; one daughter, Lisa Ann Pahlow Kranker and one granddaughter, Ashden Elizabeth Kranker. “When it’s all said and done, the most important things in life are to love the Lord and your family” – JD Pahlow
