Hugo Schiernbeck

Hugo Herman Schiernbeck, age 93, of Lamar, MO passed Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Barton County Memorial Hospital. Hugo was born, August 28, 1920 at Schleswig, IA to Carl Schiernbeck and Clara (Hill) Schiernbeck.  On October 25, 1946, he married Mary Jean Bengford in Nebraska and together they raised four children. Hugo had worked as a cattle farmer, a feed salesman, sold Watkins products and had worked at Daniel Funeral Home for over 35 years.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Hugo leaves behind his wife Mary of nearly 68 years, two sons, Milo & Wanda Schiernbeck, of Schleswig, IA and Merlin & Brenda Schiernbeck of Osceola, WI; two daughters, Marlene & Tom Shaw, of Liberal, MO and Marlys & Steve Buckner, of Lamar, MO; one sister, Helen Rodman of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 step great-grandchildren. He also left behind many friends. Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm Wednesday August 27, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lamar, MO. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society or St. Mary’s Youth Group in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
