In the comfort of his home a “good-ole boy” was called home, Henry Edward Bailey passed peacefully Wednesday, February 20, 2013.       Henry was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Christina, his parents Tom and Ella (Simmons) Bailey of Arcola. His brothers Willard and wife Ruby, Joe and wife LaRue and his sisters Gladys and husband Lee Richardson, Maye and husband Howard Gass.     Henry was born August 16th, 1926 in Cedar County and graduated from Arcola School in 1944 (he was third in his class… ;)  He was inducted into the Army in January 1945 and served as Military Policeman with the 800th M.P. Battalion in Kyoto, Japan.      Henry married Esther Dolores Roth November 10th, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lamar.  They called Lamar home, raising 12 children Barbara, Beverly, Christina, Edward, Kathleen, Phillip, Martha, Amiee, Joey, Scott, Noelle and Steven.  He has 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.     Henry was a life-long farmer,  He truly loved to work the land.  He played baseball as a kid and never lost his passion for following the game.  Henry was a member of the Lamar Metro Club and could always be found “making-the-rounds” and greeting all his friends with a wave and a smile.    The family will receive friend from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, February 22, 2013 at Daniel Funeral Home.    There will be a private family burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.     Contriubtions are suggested to Barton County Sr. Center or St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
