Henry
Clay Chancellor
Henry Clay Chancellor, age 55, of Dallas,
Texas, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at his second home
in Lamar.
Clay was born December 20, 1952, in Lamar, to Richard and Ione
(Williams) Chancellor. He graduated from
Lamar High School
in 1971 and attended college in Springfield
and Joplin, Missouri. He was an accomplished hair stylist, owning
and operating a salon in Dallas for
25 years. Clay was a very kind and very caring person.
His clients all treated him as one of their family. Clay freely returned this
compassion by making house calls for clients and friends sick from cancer and
unable to come to his salon. Clay was a gifted photographer who enjoyed flowers
and maintained a beautiful yard at his second home in Lamar.
Survivors include his mother, Ione
Chancellor, Lamar; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brad & Diane
Chancellor, Columbia, Missouri, and Eric Chancellor & Denise Meister, Falls
Church, Virginia; three nephews, Jason & wife Angela Stansberry, Lamar,
John Sherman Chancellor, Rolla, Missouri, and Richard Chancellor, Falls Church;
three nieces, Paige & husband Scott Zahorik, Franktown, Colorado, Erin
Chancellor, Falls Church, and Amy Chancellor, Springfield; two great-nephews,
Joe & Griffin Zahorik; and four great-nieces, Katy & Madison Zahorik,
Victoria & Olivia Stansberry. Clay
was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Victoria Lynn Stansberry.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 19th at
Lamar United
Methodist Church
with Rev. Don Keithly officiating.
Burial will be in Lake Cemetery
at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to
the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice, in care of
Daniel Funeral Home.
