Helen Whitchurch

Helen Florence Whitchurch, age 86, formerly of Lamar, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009, at St. Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, California.        Helen was born September 12, 1922, at Ponca City, Oklahoma, to William and Madeline (Rhoads) Gough.  She married Marcus J. Brockman and he preceded her in death in 1954.  Helen was married to Claude “Cotton” Whitchurch from 1957 until his death in 1996. Cotton and Helen made their home in Lamar for many years.  In addition to being a homemaker, Helen had worked at the Wal Mart jewelry department.  She was a member of Lamar Christian Church.  Helen moved to Fresno four years ago to be near family.        Survivors include a son, Mark Brockman, Fresno, California; two daughters, Donna Murr, Chico, California, and Beverly Loveless, Sussex, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith McCormick in 1994.        A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 5th at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.
