George Livingston

George Omar Livingston, age 77, of rural Lamar, passed away early Friday morning, May 24, 2013 at his home.      George was born December 10, 1935 at Neosho, Missouri to James and Helen (Lyons) Livingston.  He graduated from Willow Springs High School in Willow Springs, Missouri in 1953 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  George lived in Alaska for seven years, working for the Distant Early Warning Line during the cold war.  On July 16, 1967, at Topeka, Kansas, George married Loie Kay Sumner and they made their home east of Lamar where George enjoyed being a cattle farmer.  He was a member of the American Legion and served on the Newport Township Road District Board for several years.      Survivors include his wife of nearly 46 years, Loie, of the home; three sisters, Euleta Griffith, Carthage, Louise (Raymond) Bandy, Seneca, and LaVeta Adamoli, Littleton, Colorado; ten nieces and nine nephews.  George was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Livingston and Charles Livingston; and a nephew, Roger Livingston.      Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29th, at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Burial with full military honors will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Springfield, Missouri at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.      Memorial contributions are suggested to Parkinson's Group of the Ozarks or charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
