Gene was born in Breese, IL to John and Norma (Strevel)Timmermann on December 9, 1945. He grew up in Jerico Springs, MO and attended school in Stockton, MO. He later moved to Lamar, MO, where he met the love of his life, Martha, of 50 years.
Gene worked as Foreman of the Sanitation Department for the city of Lamar for 30 years. He was forced to retire from the career he loved due to an accident that left him paralyzed. He received exceptional care from his wife, Martha, which allowed for him to continue to participate in activities that brought him joy.
Gene had a passion for dirt track racing as a race car owner and as a fan. He never met a stranger and was widely known throughout the racing community. Gene spent a lot of his time at the racetrack creating memories with his son, Donnie and grandson, Dylan. He had an extensive list of drivers that drove for him producing hundreds of wins, which are proudly displayed in his garage. Gene touched the lives of so many people in the dirt track racing community and always looked forward to visiting with or helping fellow racers, whether it be to provide race car parts or advice.
Gene took great pride in his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play sports, going to pageants, and of course racing. He was their number one fan. He also enjoyed being outdoors and taking his dog “Pee Wee” for rides to the lake.
