Gary Phipps

Gary John Phipps, age 73, of Joplin, Missouri crossed over the far side of the Jordan, arm-in-arm with Jesus, January 16, 2019. He won the race. Gary was born November 16, 1945 in Lamar, Missouri to John Howard and Mary Ella Phipps (Harmon). On November 23, 1963, Gary married the love of his life, Lois Braker and together they had three children. Life with Gary was never dull! His compassionate heart and quick wit left an impression on everyone he met. His love for family extended beyond blood as he and Lois welcomed all into their home and hearts. Survivors include his wife Lois Phipps; two sons, Darrel (Diane) Phipps, Carl Junction, Missouri, and Doug (Misty) Phipps, Joplin, Missouri; One daughter, DeAnn Fidler (Brian) Joplin, Missouri; Four grandchildren, Kelsey Phipps, Jonah Phipps, Michael Phipps, Isabella Fidler; Two sisters, Linda (Gary) Colin, Lamar, Missouri and Janis Phipps, Joplin, Missouri; and countless extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Cass. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, Missouri. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Lamar, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Daniel Funeral Home. Gary requested contributions be made to Cox Barton County Hospital Auxiliary.
