Gary Lee Toney, age 84, of Liberal Missouri, passed away October 4, 2020, at Truman Healthcare and Rehab, Lamar, Missouri where he had been a resident for 10 days. . Gary was born October 12, 1935 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Chester Levi Toney and Arnita Cherokee (Knight) Toney.  Gary graduated from Coffeyville High school in 1953.  He attended the University of Missouri on a four year football scholarship and graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.   In 1955 he married Betty Rae Wiggins, and four children were born to this union.  Betty Rae passed in 1988.   In 1997 Gary married Mary Sue Henegar in Mulberry Kansas.    Gary's working years included selling insurance and over the road trucking. He spent 18 years working for Compton Farms, retiring at 80.  He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed golf, baseball, and football.   He is survived by his wife Mary Toney of the home; a daughter Michelle Desorbo (Jim) of Kennesaw, GA; two sons, Mike Toney (Angie) of Springdale, AR and Jason Toney of Tampa, FL; four granddaughters, Elissa Toney, Farmington, AR, Allison Desorbo, Kennesaw, GA, Caroline Desorbo, Ormond Beach, FL, Sarah Toney, Springdale, AR;  one grandson, John Michael Toney, Springdale, AR; and two sisters, Judy Roberts (Dee) and Joni Toney of Coffeyville, KS.   Preceding Gary in death were his parents; a sister Marcia Eckert; a brother Terry Toney, and a son John Toney.   Services will be held at Daniel Funeral Home Lamar, Missouri. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the funeral will be Thursday, October 8, 2020 at  2:00 p.m.   The family suggests contributions to Avalon Hospice or Mulberry Holiness Church building fund. Daniel Funeral Home will receive these contributions.
