Franz H. Penner, age 89, of rural Lamar,
passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at his home following a long illness.
Franz was born October 3, 1927, in Lushton, Nebraska,
to Franz F. and Katharina (Harder) Penner.
After graduating from Lushton High School in 1948, he attended the University of Nebraska for two years. A life-long farmer, Franz moved to St. Ann, Missouri
in 1967. In 1980 he purchased a farm
near Lamar in Barton
County, raising crops and
livestock until retiring due to declining health. Franz had an interest in government and
social issues and was active in the Barton County Democratic Party. He served on the Union Township Board for 16
years and was a member of Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, David (Chi) Penner, Omaha, Nebraska and Doug
(Tina) Penner, Lamar; four daughters, Mary Jane Henrichson, Lincoln, Nebraska,
Darleen (John) Connelly, Barranquilla, Colombia, Martha June Myles, Omaha, and
Katharina Penner, Lamar; twelve grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A graveside committal service will be
held at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Faith Evangelical Bible Cemetery
near Henderson, Nebraska.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 pm Monday,
January 30, 2017 at Daniel Funeral Home.
