Frances Belle McManus

Frances Bell (Pinkerton) McManus went to be with her dear Savior, Jesus at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May14, 2014.  She was 83 years old.  Her residence for the past 11 months was Lamar, MO.      She passed away peacefully from complications of colon cancer, within the comfort of her own home, with her children surrounding her.      Frances was born on September 28, 1930 in El Dorado Springs, MO to Clyde and Myrle Pinkerton.  Frances graduated from Brookfield Senior High School in Brookfield, MO on May 14, 1948.  On February 14, 1950, Frances married the love of her life, James Muriel McManus in Charlotte, SC and together they had seven children.  Frances was a hard worker and she managed, supervised and owned several restaurants during her life.  She also took joy in welcoming family, friends, and those less fortunate into her home to have a “good, home-cooked meal”.       Her hobbies included spending time with her family that she loved, crocheting, volunteer work with the National Foster Parent Association, and devoting her time and love to over 171 foster children.  She effortlessly loved and cared for these orphaned children as if they were her own.  She and her husband received many church accolades and Missouri Foster Parent awards over the years.      Frances is survived by two sons; Gary (Suzanne) McManus, of Coffeyville, KS and Larry (Kathy) McManus of Independence, KS; five daughters, Teri Boswell of Lamar, MO, Sheri Clark of Springfield, MO, Traci McManus of Fort Worth, TX, Jasmine (Tim) Boston of Kansas City, MO, and Tiona McManus of Fort Worth, TX; One sister-in-law Donna Pinkerton; 10 grandchildren, James Jason, and Jeffrey McManus, Angela Balloun, Heather King, Amy Morrison, Chad McManus, Andrew Boswell and Shawn Clark; 26 great-grandchildren and 171 foster children.      Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband, James McManus, both parents, Clyde and Myrle Pinkerton; a brother, George Pinkerton, and a nephew, Mike Pinkerton.      Mom’s prayer was always for peace, her love for the Lord and her family was evident in everything she put her hand to.  Our hearts miss her greatly! “Promise you will make Heaven your home”.      Honoring a legacy…    Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday May 19, 2014 at Lamar Family Ministries Center with burial to follow at Lake Cemetery.     The family will receive friends 12:00 noon until service time at the church.     Contributions are suggested to the McManus Family in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
