During retirement, she continued serving others by working as a cashier at Summer Fresh, providing care through Hospice, and serving as a dining room hostess at McDonald’s.
Fern and Bobby spent their early years together in Golden City but made their home in Lamar for most of their married life. At the time of her passing, Fern was a faithful member of Milford Christian Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, JD and Karen Stevenson of Bolivar, Missouri; granddaughters, Marci Stevenson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Lexie Thomason and husband Dustin of Springfield, Illinois; one great-grandson, Strider Thomason; one sister, Susie Howland and husband Larry; one brother, Jake Kaderly and wife Kay; one sister, Henry Etta Howell; sisters-in-law, Pam Kaderly, Bonnie Parker, and Leota Stump; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their care and compassion during the last 4½ years of Fern’s life, as well as to the many visitors from Milford Christian Church whose kindness and support meant so much.
