Evelyn Tidball

Evelyn Lucille Tidball, age 80, of Lamar, MO passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Truman Healthcare Center where she had been a resident for the past year.      Evelyn was born September 29, 1932, in Barton County, Missouri to Pedro Clifton and Lena Mae (Bright) Tidball.  Her mother died when Evelyn was only two years old and she was raised by her great-aunt, Jessie Lucas in the home of Grandpa Lucas.  Over the years, it became home to Con Lucas, Jack Tidball, as well as her father, Pedro Tidball, and Evelyn was a devoted caregiver for her family throughout her life.   After graduating from Jasper High School in 1950, Evelyn attended  Pittsburg College. Her sharp mind and meticulous attention to detail served her well in her long career as an executive secretary, beginning at Lawn Boy. When that company left Lamar, she worked for F.M. Thorpe, then O'Sullivan Industries for many years.  At the closing of O'Sullivan Industries, Evelyn accepted a position at E.F. Hutton in Kansas City, working during the week, but coming home to Lamar to care for her family each weekend.  After several years of this commute, Evelyn took the opportunity to return to Lamar, working for Tom O'Sullivan until she retired in 1997.       Survivors include her brother and his wife, Alonzo & Mary Jane Tidball of Jasper; two nieces, Teresa (David) Carpenter and Tracy (Chad) Keutzer all of Jasper; two nephews, Mark Tidball of Jasper, and Mike & Kimbi Tidball, of Carthage; 11 great-nephews and great-nieces, Matthew Carpenter, Rebecca Carpenter, Caleb Tidball, Jacob Tidball, Isaac Tidball, Eliza Tidball, Jarrod Tidball, Monica Keutzer, Jimmy Keutzer, Tyler Tidball, and Trevor Tidball.      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday.  Burial will be in Waters Cemetery northwest of Jasper.
