Evelyn Johnston

Evelyn Johnston, age 87, of Lamar, MO passed away May 14, 2019, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lamar, MOEvelyn was born June 29, 1931 in Rural Barton County, MO to William and Alice (Dobbs) Loveall. She attended school in El Dorado Springs, MO and on  February 19, 1951, she married Gailand Wayne Johnston in  Arkansas. Evelyn was a homemaker and had worked as an elevator operator at the Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City.  She enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, dancing, painting, sewing, canning and spending lots of time with the grandkids.Survivors include her husband Gailand, of the home; a son Gailand (Bonnie) Johnston, Lamar, MO; two daughters, Patty Batcheler, Lamar, MO and Lisa (Randy) McAtee, Girard, KS; one sister, Louise Loveall; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.Preceding in death were her parents, four brothers, Melvin Loveall, Tommy Loveall, Kenneth Loveall and Lloyd Loveall; three sister, Mary Jo Parrish and Willie Lloyd and, Jane Kibler; a daughter, Tina Clemons in 2008 and a son-in-law, Dennis Batcheler in 2018. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 17, 2019, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to and made payable to Cornerstone Baptist Church  or St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
