Calvin "Eugene" Stump, age 74, of Lockwood, Missouri died December 30, 2020, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, MO as a result of COVID 19 side effects.  He fought hard for 94 days to recover from COVID 19, but lost his battle.   He is survived by his wife Connie of 53 years; his daughter Tammy (Jon) Engle of Liberal, MO; his son Darren Stump of Lockwood, MO; nine grandchildren, Cody Wright, Jason, Cassie and Jackson Engle, Justin and Katelyn Stump and Hunter, Landon and Avery Stump; eight great grandchildren, Addie, Bentley, Lanie and Oliver Engle, Connor, Carter, Chase and Cason Gomez. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Faye Stump, his sister, Juanita Rookstool, his brother, Robert Stump; a daughter, Kathy Stump and a son, Kevin Stump.He was a draftsman at Horton Engineering and Finley Engineering as well as McNally's in Pittsburg, KS.  In 1972 he went to work for Barton County Electric.  He started farming full time in 1978 and farmed with his brother and father.  He served on the Produce Exchange in Golden City for 20 years and was on the road board for Cedar Township for 19 years and served as the Dade County Western Commissioner for four years.  Eugene had a passion for row cropping and raising cattle and living the country life.  He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lamar.  If the church doors were open, he was usually there.  He loved his Lord and Savior with his big heart. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Lamar First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.The service will be live streamed at  https://www.facebook.com/firstbaptistchurchoflamarContributions are suggested and made payable to First Baptist Church Building Fund or The American Cancer Society in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
