Eugene Sadler, Sr.

Eugene Doss Sadler, Sr., age 80, of rural Liberal, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 with his family by his side at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.     Eugene was born October 19, 1932 at Tuckerman, Arkansas and was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Violia (Doss) Sadler.  He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for more than 30 years, many of those spent as a feeder driver for UPS.  He was a talented woodworker, creating cedar chests and other furniture projects for family and friends.  Eugene had been an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and raising rabbits.  He was an active member of Oskaloosa Free Will Baptist Church.      Survivors include two sons, Eugene (Gloria) Sadler Jr. of Arvada, Colorado and Russell (Sherry) Sadler of Jefferson City, Missouri; a daughter, Candace (Jerry) Chumley of Little Elm, Texas; four sisters, Emma Dabbs, Norman, Oklahoma, Janette (Jack) Davis, Pocatello, Idaho, Dorthy Beck and Dema (Doug) Tomerlin, all of Georgetown, Texas; seven grandchildren, Curt, Erin, Lisa, Charlotte, Matthew, Justin, and Andrea; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Coy Eugene, and Isabelle; and a large extended family.      A memorial celebration of Eugene's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24th at Oskaloosa Free Will Baptist Church, Liberal, MO with Pastor Chris Bearden officiating.      Memorial contributions are suggested to Oskaloosa Free Will Baptist Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home, 1201 Broadway, Lamar, MO  64759.
