Ethan Cord Mayfield, age 13, of rural
Lamar, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Children’s Mercy Hospital
following an accident at school October 22nd which resulted in a
prolonged illness.
Ethan was born August 6, 1995, at Lamar, to Norman and Pam
(Enochs) Mayfield. He was a sixth grade
student at Lamar Middle
School.
Ethan was an avid outdoorsman who, along with his dad, enjoyed hunting, fishing,
paintballing, and playing baseball.
Animals were naturally drawn to Ethan and his life was enriched by his variety
of pets, his ferret, Smokey; his snake, Fangs; and his dogs, Chance, Susie,
Luke, Babe, and Chase.
Survivors include his parents, Norman
& Pam Mayfield of the home; paternal grandmother, Jane Mayfield, Lamar;
maternal grandmother, Shirley Ford, Sheldon; two sisters and brothers-in-law,
Crissy & Jody Martin, Sheldon, and Ashlie & Paul Weaver, Lamar; two
nephews, Kaleb & Kaden Martin; a niece, Kolee Martin; numerous cousins, many
special friends and a large extended family.
Ethan was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Howard Mayfield and
Jack Ford and his great grandmothers, Ida Mayfield and Mildred Noll.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6th, at
Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00
p.m. Friday. Burial will be a
private committal service at the Mayfield
Family Cemetery.
