Emily Clements

Emily Clements, age 74, of Lamar, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family.     Emily was born August 23, 1939 at Lamar, the third of six children of Carl and Orpha (Dixon) Jungmann.  After graduating from Lamar High School in 1957, Emily worked as a key punch operator for the Federal Reserve in Kansas City, Missouri.  On February 14, 1958, in Kansas City, she married the love of her life, Don Clements and she embarked on her most important and fulfilling career, that of wife and mother.  Making their home in Lamar, Emily worked in the school cafeteria for several years, then as an optometric assistant for Dr. Swearingen for many years, and Home Health Office Manager for Barton County Health Department for 12 years, retiring in 2006.  She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she served as organist and was involved in Marriage Encounter, Parent Effectiveness Training, Camp Renewal, and was a St. Mary’s Youth Group Leader, organizing many activities and ski trips throughout the years.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society, Missouri Optometric Association, and the Lamar T.O.P.S. group.   Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Orpha Jungmann; father and mother-in-law, Ted and Ruby Clements; brothers-in-law, Paul Gerke, Roy Clements, and Bob Selvey; and sister-in-law, Betty Selvey.   Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Don, of the home; the boys, Mike (Decema) Clements, Doug (Cindy) Clements, Greg (Sheila) Clements, Jeff (Amy) Clements, and Stan (Cindy) Clements, all of Lamar; two daughters, Diane (Eric) Gilbert, High Rolls, New Mexico and Angie (Charlie) Lathrop, Lamar; 19 grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Kristen, Taylor, Rachel, Chad, Cara G., Ginny, Brian, Nathan, Matt C., Kevin, Aaron, Matt G., Caleb, Caty, Chelsea, Dillon, and Dono; eleven great-grandchildren, Tre, Ethan, Alex, McKinley, Emily, Kaylie, Jackson, Tucker, Kaysen, Jarrett, and Nathan; two brothers, Carl (Mary) Jungmann, Carthage, Paul (Marilynn) Jungmann; Independence, Missouri; three sisters, Irene (Anthony) Filosa, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Doris Woods, Lamar, and Linda Gerke, Pilot Grove; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Sue) Clements and Loyd (Bev) Clements, all of Lamar; two sisters-in-law, Thelma (Don) Selvey and Dixie Clements, all of Lamar; a large extended family and a host of friends.    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22nd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.    A prayer service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home with visitation following from 6:15 until 8:00 p.m.    Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Youth Group or Hospice Compassus, in care of the funeral home.
