Edwin "Bud" Stilabower

Edwin Lee "Bud" Stilabower, age 89, of Lamar, passed Tuesday June 4, 2013 in the comfort of his home. Bud was born May 24, 1924 in Lamar, Mo. to Frank and Stella (Miller) Stilabower. He married Maxine (Francis) Stilabower on April 19, 1944. They spent most of their married lives in Lamar where they raised two wonderful boys. In 1951 Bud began working for Smith-Long Lumber Company. In 1958 he began working for Isenhower Lumber Company which he and fellow employees Bud Hicks, Betty Shelton and Norman Miller bought in 1967. Bud spent a lifetime in the lumber business always happy to help a “young fella” with his project.  After his retirement in 1990 Bud and Maxine enjoyed several winters in southern Texas.  Bud spent many years in Lions Club, was on the Lamar Health Department Board of Trustees, a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church and the Lamar Country Club.  Bud was an avid golfer and loved to fish, garden, do wood working in his shop and in later life, his morning workouts at Barton County Memorial Hospital.  Bud was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Maxine, his son Edwin Lee Stilabower, Jr., his brother George Stilabower and a sister Allene Divine.  Survivors include his son Lonnie & Barb Stilabower of Lamar, MO;  a sister Leta McNally, Chillicothe, MO; sister-in-law Maxine Francis, Lamar, MO; three grandchildren, Angie & Steven Bailey, Heath & Ashley Stilabower, and Kim & Rile Friend, all of Lamar, MO; and eight great-grandchildren, Peyton, Travis, Tristen, Natalia, Carson, Alyvia, Ryder, and Rex. Visitation will be 6 to 7 pm Friday, June 7, 2013 at Daniel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Daniel Funeral Home with Rev.  Don Keithly officiating.  Burial will follow at Lake Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to L.I.F.E., Edwin Stilabower, Jr. Memorial Scholarship or Barton Co. Memorial Hospital Cardiac Rehab. Program in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
