Eddie Morin

Edward Martin “Eddie” Morin, age 91, of Lamar, MO passed at his home, Friday, July 18, 2014.    Eddie was born May 28, 1923 at Newport, MO to Delbert Orville Morin and Shirley Nadine (Howard) Morin.  He graduated Golden City High School and served his country in the U.S. Army in the Glider Division.  He received a bronze star for service in Rhineland and a Glider Badge.     On November 28, 1946 he married Laura Mae “Toots” Morin at Girard, KS, and together the raised three children.  She preceded him in death on August 26, 1986.  On March 17, 1988 he married Ina Maxine (Sims) Orahood and they had recently celebrated 26 years of marriage.    Eddie had worked as a mechanic, was the owner/operator of OTASCO in Lamar, and was a line foreman for Great Plains.  He had served as an IOOF Grand Master, and helped place the IOOF wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Solider in Washington DC, was a 65 year member of IOOF, was a member of VFW Post #3691 and had served as the Post Commander and the Quarter Master.  He also served as the VFW District 7 Quarter Master, was a member of Metro Club, and was a handyman who could fix anything.  Eddie also loved to fish and bowl and was a member of Lamar First Christian Church.    In addition to his wife Maxine, he is survived by one son, Mike & Tanya Morin of El Dorado Springs, MO; two daughters, Sue & John Lockridge, Sondra & Tom Riegel; one step-son, Max & Cathy Orahood; one step-daughter, Donna Wescott, all of Lamar; grandchildren, Gretchen & Daniel Dickey, Phillip & Diane Gould, Rhiannon Lockridge, Johnna & David Williams, Coby & Ryan Fullerton, Heidi & Kevin Gardner, Lacee & Rodney Onstott, Cory & Whitney Gayman, Marc & Michelle Morin, Trey Gayman, Lakyn Gayman, Nichole Morin, Tommy & Crystal Orahood, Mitch & Jennifer Orahood, R.D. & Candi Lemmons, Willie Lemmons, and Jamey Wescott; 31 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.     Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Daniel Funeral Home with Mike Gage officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors.    Contributions are suggested to Barton County Sr. Center or Lamar First Christian Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home.    Condolences may be left at www.danielfuneralhome.net
