Duane Ashley Davis, age 40, of Schertz, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 5th 2013 near Lamar in Barton County Missouri from injuries sustained in an airplane accident. The son of Franklin and Brenda (Brazell) Davis, Duane was born in Columbia, South Carolina. After attending Lexington High School he earned several accreditations in firefighting and fire service dispatch. Duane also served in the military. His quest for adventure and love of flying was evident throughout his life. He was certified by the United States Parachute Association as a skydive instructor. A lifelong learner, Duane was a 2012 graduate of Wayland Baptist University with a degree in aeronautics. In addition to being qualified in various firearms and public safety venues, he was certified by the National Rifle Association as a firearms trainer. Survivors include his eight year-old daughter, Ashley Scott Davis, and her mother, Heather Scott Davis of Schertz, Texas; his mother, Brenda Davis, sister Starr Davis, both of Salley, South Carolina; brother, Mark Davis, Orlando, Florida; many co-workers and friends, including his closest friend Alan Whitmere of Schertz, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Davis. Celebrations of Duane's life will be held in South Carolina and Texas at a later date.
