Drew Woods

Drew Michael Woods, born April 4, 1988 to Billy D. Woods and Christine (Vice) Hall, passed away August 12, 2020 following a short illness. After graduating from Lamar High School, he worked in hospitality and was an assistant manager before changing careers into healthcare when he became a CNA and worked in nursing homes. He wanted to go to school to become a counselor while working as a CNA.    Drew never knew a stranger and always had a smile. He met and fell in love with Melissa Gonzalez and her two children, Stephen and Laylah. Drew and Melissa were married September 16, 2019.   Drew is survived by his wife and step-children; his father; mother and step-father, Jeff Hall; a brother, Brent Woods; a sister, Brooke Woods; a niece, Josylin Woods; a nephew, Jonathan Collins; several cousins, aunts and uncles; grandparents, Harvey and Lorraine Vice and in-laws, Ken and Leanne Harrell.   Preceding Drew in death were his paternal grandparents, Bill and Audrey Woods.   Drew made a profession of faith in his youth and was baptized at the Lamar First Baptist Church by Rev. Robb Hodson. In later years, he rededicated his life to the Lord. When he was diagnosed with a fatal disease, he said he wasn't afraid to die and was ready to go home to be with the Lord and all his loved ones already there. He maintained a positive attitude with humor the whole time he was ill and kept the hospice nurses and others who cared for him in smiles.   He enjoyed playing video games and collecting and watching movies. He loved to cook and grill and spend time with family and friends. Drew also loved hunting and fishing on the family farm. Drew was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.   Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2020, the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Nashville Cemetery.    Contributions are suggested and made payable to Daniel Funeral Home to help the family with the cost of funeral expenses.   Condolences may be shared at www.dfhlamar.com
