Doug Meister

Douglas Lynn Meister, age 57, of Lamar, Missouri passed away March 19, 2019, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Missouri. Doug was born September 11, 1961 in Carthage, Missouri to Terryl Dean Meister and Hazel Allene (Kern) Meister.  Doug attended school in Nevada, Missouri.  On August 15, 2004, Doug professed his faith in Jesus Christ at the Oakton United Methodist Church.  While Doug was attending Milford Christian Church, he met Connie Sue Houston and the two of them fell in love.  Doug and Connie were married on June 25, 2005, at the Oakton United Methodist Church.Doug worked as a delivery driver of special needs children for Apple Bus Company.  He was an avid fan and collector of Looney Tunes. He was active in the Bus Ministry at Oakton United Methodist Church and took care of the landscaping at the church.Survivors include his wife Connie; his mother, Hazel Amoss, Springfield, Missouri; two sons, Clinton (Tori) Meister and Lance (Maranda) Meister, both of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; a daughter, Karlena Meister, Nevada, Missouri; a step-daughter, Heather (Dennis) Duncan, Lamar, Missouri; a sister, Lisa (David) Landon, Springfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Preceding him in death were his father Terryl Meister, step-father, William Amoss, two step-daughters Julie Phipps and Abby Phipps. Services will be 4:00 pm Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Daniel Funeral Home.The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, at the funeral home.  Contributions are suggested to Oakton United Methodist Church Bus Ministry in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
