Donald George Hendrix, age 84, of Sheldon, Missouri passed away October 2, 2021 at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.        .   Donald was born November 22, 1936 in Springfield, Missouri to Thomas and Francis (Evans) Hendrix. Donald was united in marriage on April 18, 1968 to Lorna Ann (Daily) Hendrix, they were blessed with four children.   Donald was in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1958. After his military service he attended Southwest Missouri State College (currently MSU) to fulfill his Bachelors of Education degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Education Administration. After graduation, he worked as an educator for over 35 years, teaching mathematics at several schools and colleges including Sheldon, where he also served as a high school principal. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, planting, caring for trees, and watching westerns. He was a member of the Living Church of God in Joplin, Missouri.   Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lorna Hendrix of Sheldon,  three children; Carman (John) Crowley, David (Kerrie) Hendrix and Suzanne Kirbey (Dwayne Smith), eight grandchildren; Amanda (Jay) Maddox, Melinda Crowley, Hanna (Isaac) Yoder, Brandon (Brooke) Kirbey, Devin Hendrix, Trevor (Marissa) Kirbey, Austin Hendrix and Matthew Kirbey, eight great-grandchildren; Anna Bella Maddox, Aubree Maddox, Lila Maddox, Elliott Maddox, Weston Yoder, Maylee Yoder, Braxton Kirbey and Oakleigh Kirbey, one brother, David T. Hendrix along with a niece and several nephews.   Preceding Donald in death were his son, Stephen Hendrix, his parents, and one sister, Barbara.   The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Daniel Funeral Home.   Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Brookline Cemetery in Republic, Missouri.   Contributions are suggested and made payable to Sheldon High School for a scholarship to be awarded to a Senior this year in care of Daniel Funeral Home.   Condolences may be shared at www.dfhlamar.com
