Dennison "Denny" Egbert III

Dennison "Denny" Egbert III, 80, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on March 10, 2024 after a 7 month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on April 27, 1943 to Marjorie Mellor Egbert and Dennison Egbert Jr.

He spent most of his early childhood in Shreveport, Louisiana, but after his parents divorced when he was 10, he moved to Liberal, Missouri with his mother and sister to be near family. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1961, where he excelled in academics and sports. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1965. He was a member of the Army National Guard for six years.

He was employed by Hallmark Cards for 38 years and spent most of his career working in Quality Control. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection Overland Park. He was a Boy Scout leader and took great pride in being a part of both sons' journeys to become Eagle Scouts. He was also a coach for their many sports teams and was an avid fisherman.

Left to mourn his passing are his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 56 years, Louise; his sons, Kevin (Wendee) and Scott (Michelle); his three grandchildren, Alyssa, Ethan and Noah Egbert, all of Lenexa, Kansas; his in-laws, Mike and Kathy Conduff of Denton, Texas; Tom and Wilma Crockett, Bruce and Leann Barker and Laura Scarlato, all of Liberal, Missouri and Larry Nokes of Olathe, Kansas; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Deborah Nokes, his maternal and paternal grandparents and his in-laws, Walter and Margorie Crockett and Bill Jones.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., at the Christian Church of Liberal, followed by services at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Burial will be at the Barton City Cemetery in Liberal.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Barton City Cemetery or to Kansas City Hospice in care of Daniel Funeral Home, 1201 Broadway, Lamar, Missouri, 64759.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the KU Medical Cancer Center and Kansas City Hospice for all the love and care shown to Denny during his cancer journey.
