David LeRoy Stauffer, age 82, of Lees Summit, Missouri passed away August 17, 2024, at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lees Summit, MO.
David was born June 7, 1942 in Mankato, Minnesota to LeRoy Everett Stauffer and Orla Mae (Bogenrief) Stauffer. David graduated from high school in Winnebago, MN. He attended college at Mankato State College and received his bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota State. On June 13, 1964, David married Kathryn Ann Evans in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
After getting married, they moved to St. Louis, Missouri, for David's first job with McDonnell Douglas. David's career then led them to the Chicago, Illinois area, and then on to Scottsdale, Arizona with Motorola. A career change led him back to Slayton, Minnesota, where he ran his own auto parts business for a few short years in the late 70's and then went to work for Finley Engineering. They headed back to Missouri, to the town of Lamar, where he continued to work for Finley Engineering, for a total of 19 years and where they lived for 42 years. David finished his career working for the Hanger Door Company in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, retiring in 2008. In recent years they had moved to Lees Summit, MO., due to health issues. David lived a life of faith, supporting a positive household filled with hope and love. David was a member of Lamar Methodist Church, where he was involved with the Methodist Men, Dude's and Donuts, served as a Board Trustee of the Church, played on the church league basketball team, attended Sunday School and served on the Board of Trustees for Good Samaritan. He spent time gardening, enjoyed sports and had a passion for sport cars.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Kathy; two daughters, Sheryl (Kenneth) Hill of Springfield, MO and Karen (Jeff) Payne of Lexington, MO; one son, Gary (Tina) Stauffer of Lee's Summit, MO; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann (Richard) Flisrand of Austin, MN.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2024, at Lamar Methodist Church in Lamar, MO., with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lamar, MO.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. at the Lamar Methodist Church prior to the funeral.
